Digital acupoint pressure (DAP) is one of qi emitting qigong. This article reports that digital acupoint pressure was used to treat the patients with alopecia. Fifteen patients with alopecia, after having been divided into five kinds of syndromes (deficiency of blood, blood heat, blood stasis, damp-heat and deficiency of kidney) according to the differentiation of symptoms and signs of T.C.M., were treated with different manipulations and Jing points of DAP, for three months, and observed their symptoms (before treatment and after treatment) which had been standardized with evaluation index (EI). By comparing and analyzing EI, we found that the patient's EI with DAP increased obviously from 0.93+-0.26 (mean+-SD: before treatment) to 2.60+-0.63 (after treatment). This results showed a higher significant difference (P<0.001). Especially, damp heat syndrome and deficiency of blood syndrome gave quite good effect.

DAP removes blood stasis, dredges the channels, regulates the qi and blood, and provokes the activities of the hair follicle by stimulating the roots of the hair, to make the hair regenerate. So we conclude that DAP can cure or treat different syndromes of alopecia, which has obviously clinic significances. However, it has been expected that the mechanism of treatment for alopecia with DAP will be discovered with the modernized scientific techniques and methods in future.
