The condition of immune function of organism has been found to be very important in evaluating tumor occurrence, development and therapeutic effect of tumors. So the authors studied the effects of qigong waiqi on the immune function of mice with transplant tumors.

G422 cells of neuroglioma were implanted in the armpits of the mice front limbs, and the control group was used without tumor transplantation. The mice with tumor were randomly assigned to nine groups, one of them has taken as the experimental control group, for qigong waiqi was not given. The other eight test groups were given qigong waiqi separately admitted by eight qigong masters. Generally most of the mice were given qigong waiqi at 24 hours after tumor transplantation, one time per day.

11 to 14 days following tumor transplantation, the animals were bled from the vein clumps behind their orbits. The blood samples obtained were used to examine WBC (white blood cells) and DC (differential count), then the mice were killed by dislocating the cervical vertebras, and the spleens were removed and weighed under sterile conditions, lymphocyte suspension was prepared, and the activities of ND cells and K cells and the relative indexes about tumor immunity, such as IL-2 induced by Tu cells, etc., were measured.

The results have showed that qigong waiqi can regulate white blood cells and lymphocytes in the mice with tumors, and in the tests that qigong waiqi obviously inhibited tumor growth (P<0.05), negative relation was found between the weight and the size of spleen (P<0.05). Further examination of the immune function of spleen lymphocytes also indicated the results that the activities of Tu cells, NK cells and K cells in spleens of mice with tumor increased in varying degrees under the action of qigong waiqi. Therefore, we suggest that qigong waiqi have good action on anti-tumor immunological surveillance in organism.
