The breathing methods in Qigong, yoga, zazen and the like are effective in coordinating autonomic nervous function, and their effectiveness for constant maintenance of the human body has been given by previous studies. These have played a role with the important abdominal respiration. In this study, we compared effects of the respiration used while playing a wind instrument, which was conscious abdominal respiration and the respiration used in internal Qigong. We also examined various influences on the autonomic nervous function and the physiology function. We evaluated autonomic nervous function by ECG measurements and we tried evaluations with an index of time area analysis (CVR-R) and frequency area analysis (LF/HF). From the results, we reached some conclusions about breathing methods as health methods.
