Objective: To try to find out whether exercise has positive effects on the prevention and treatment of the inducing factors of coronary heart disease.
Methods: 263 subjects were selected from patients in the sanatorium£¨most of them were retired officers. 263 15-80-year-old male subjects were divided into two groups. The control group had 60 subjects, and the exercise group had 203 subjects. Those who never or seldom do exercises were assigned to the control group, and those who do everyday exercises for more than 5 years were assigned to the exercise group. The exercise group was divided into 3 groups, Qigong group 56 subjects (most of them are practicing life-cultivating Qigong), walking group 67 subjects, and jogging group 85 subjects. In the study, all the subjects’ height, weight, blood glucose and lipid tests were given in the same controlled condition.
Results: The exercise group (Qigong, walking, and jogging groups) has a lower concentration of Glu, TG, TC and HDL than the control group. And the incidences of hypertension, diabetes, hypertriglyceridemia and obesity of the exercise group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.01<0.05).
Conclusion: Doing regular exercises are effective for the aged people to prevent and treat the coronary heart disease.
