It is becoming apparent that concentration improves the human body. One concentration method is zen, and a study was conducted on its technique of zazen. The changes in the respective levels of CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8 and natural killer (NK) cell activity in venous blood were measured. Measuring sessions were conducted 40 minutes before and after zazen was practiced. The CD4 level increased but the CD8 level did not show significant changes. It has been suggested that the helper T-cells increased stimulate the immune capability. The NK cell activity did not show significant changes and it had a tendency to decrease. Further experiments are being planned to take into consideration the experience of each practioner and the specific time zazen is practiced.
