The purpose of this study was to supply a new and efficient method for improving body flexibility by practicing qigong.
All subjects (mean age 20.48±1.0, male 17, female 16) were students in the institute. They volunteered to learn and practise qigong for 8 hours. Qigong teacher was Zhou Daohong.
The results showed that five indexes that represent body flexibility of shoulder, chest, waist, hip, etc., were improved greatly after learning and practicing qigong (p<0.01). In addition, the results showed that improving body flexibility by qigong not only have effective quickly without pain but also not to be easy to injure.
These results indicate that qigong is a better method of improving body flexibility and accord with the demands in sports training and physical education.
