Daoyin tuina is a traditional psychosomatic therapy originated from Shanxi province, China. This therapy has been found to be highly successful in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. we have observed the effect of it on the rheoencephalogram and finger tip pulsate plethysmogram of the patients. In this paper, the changes of arterial blood pressure (ABP) and heart rate (HR) of 38 subjects with hypertension, hypotension and nomotension have been recorded in the course of its training in 54 + 4.2 days. The results showed the blood pressure in the hypertension group tended to come down greatly, that of the hypertension to go up, and that of the nomotension to be no significant changes after the course of treatment (See Table 1). Before and after the qigong exercise the higher ABP or the faster HR group tended to come down, the lower ABP or the slower HR group tended to go up. This study suggests that there is a bi-directional adjustment of of it on ABP and HR. The possible mechanism of this effect was discussed too. Table 1. Changes of ABP in pre- and post-treatment with the exercise.
