Electroencephalogram (EEG) of a Chinese male qigongist (41-year-old) was measured with changing his consciousness and that of a Japanese male subject (32-year-old) receiving qi was also measured simultaneously. When the qigongist radiated qi while concentrating his consciousness on the left hemisphere of his brain, very spiky brain waves appeared strongly on the left. Those waves belonged to the high voltage alpha band accompanied by fast waves, and had high coherency; the main frequency was 12.6 Hz. When he moved his consciousness to the right hemisphere, those wave-bast moved to the right within a few seconds. The main frequency of this case spread around 12.0 Hz and some EMGs (electromyograms) were recognized to be mingled. The EEGs of the subject were alternated on the beta appearance in the left and in the right hemisphere by the EEGs of the qigongist. After qigong the effect was still remained on the EEG. In the resting state of this qigongist repetitive population spikes were appeared on the right hemisphere approximately every ten seconds. During these spikes. synchronic fast waves were observed on the EEG of the subjects These spiky waves and spikes will be analyzed in detail by the following study.
