Patients with peripheral neuropathy were placed under the Magnetic Molecular Energizer that produces a 5000 gauss DC electromagnetic field therapy (DEMF) with the subjects lying between two magnets under an IRB protocol. The focus of the DEMF was on the feet in three diabetic patients, knee in one and LS spine in two. All patients had a baseline and post Current Perception Threshold (CPT) testing. CPT testing is an effective predictor of symptoms and physical impairment and is obtained with 3 neuroselective frequencies to test various nerve fiber types. This was obtained using double-blind testing methodology. (±20 micro amp, p<0.0006) Five patients showed significant improvement with DEMF therapy, and sustained in most cases more than 1 year. One patient had slight worsening regarding dysesthesiae. Treatment times with DEMF ranged from 12 hours to 155 hours with a mean of 90 hours. The mechanisms underlying the observed changes are not fully understood.
