40 patients with myastheria gravis accepted the treatment of general radiotherapy in low dosage in our hospital for a month this year. 20 volunteers also did the exercise of qigong and wu qin xi, to reduce the symptoms and the side-effect of the radiotherapy after the treatment. They did the exercise for 3 hours every day. The average age of them was 29 years old, the others 26 years old in average, who were comparable with the first group in stage of disease and distribution of typing with Ossermen were used as control. The level of white blood cells, grip strength of two hands and the dropping extent of eyelid in two groups were observed. The results showed that the level of WBC was increased by 1035+-1566 in experimental group but in control group decreased by 1175+=1196, the difference between the two groups was significant (statistically, P<0.001). The grip strength of left and right hands, dropping extent of left and right eyelid was improved by 1.37+-1.75, 0.02+-0.09, 0.02+-0.08 (P<0.05), only the right grip strength had a bit increase by 0.17+-1.62. The results indicated that doing exercise of qigong improve the symptoms of myastheria gravis, especially in patients who failed to respond well to the general radiotherapy in low dosage. Furthermore, qigong could help patients to recover from the side-effect of radiotherapy, i.e. it could greatly increase the level of white blood cells in patients after radiation.
