This paper reported the enhancement in inducing antitumor lymphokines of qigong waiqi in the immunosuppressed model of mice induced by cyclophosphamidum (CY), NIH mice were randomly divided into three groups:
1. CY group: i.p.CY (100 mg/kg body weight) once.
2. CY+qigong waiqi group: mice received qigong waiqi 20-25 min/day for 8 days, on day 3, i.p.CY (100 mg/kg body weight) once.
3. normal control group: i.p. normal saline (0.1 ml/20 g body weight) once. On day 8, the mice were sacrificed and splenocytes suspensions (5x10^6/ml) were made into several parallel portions for inducing IL-2, IFN-r, LT, etc., thymus index and splenocytes natural proliferation rate were observed simultaneously. Then following results were found: 1). The thymus index of CY group was obviously lower than that of normal control group (P<0.01), but the thymus index of CY+qigong group was significantly higher than that of CY group (P<0.25). 2). Splenocytes spontaneous proliferation rate of CY group was as low as normal control group. However, the splenocytes spontaneous proliferation rate in CY+qigong was obviously higher than that of CY and control group (P<0.05). 3). The activity of IL-2 of CY group was much lower than that of control group (P<0.025), but the activity of IL-2 of CY+qigong group was obviously higher than that of CY control group (P<0.001). 4). CY could suppress the title of IFN-r of mice (P<0.001), however, qigong waiqi could relieve the suppression induced by CY (P<0.001). 5). CY also could decline the activity of LT of mice (P<0.01), but qigong waiqi could partially enhance the activity of LT (P<0.05). These results indicate that CY could significantly suppress immune function of mice, but qigong waiqi could obviously alleviate the suppression, enhance the antitumor immune function through the induction of antitumor lymphokines, and promote the immune function of immunosuppressed mice.
