H reflex latency was studied in 139 limbs with MEM-3102 EMG et al. The result showed that the H reflex latency during the functional status of Qigong is shorter than that before Qigong significantly (Shu Zi Gong) by an average of 1.7 ms. The fastest change of the H reflex latency takes place in 2-3 minutes during the functional status of Qigong and keeps in steady status in 4-5 minutes.

The change of the H reflex latency as found to be highly negatively correlated with the blood flow of the correspondent lower limb ( r=-0.976). An analysis of the regression of the change of H reflex latency (Delta H) on the change of lower limb's blood flow (Delta LLEF) produced the formula:

Delta H = -0.32-0.195 (Delta LLBF)

The influences of psychological factor, stimulus conditions, and the lower limb's temperature etc. on H reflex latency were eliminated during experimental status. It was suggested that the increase in excitability of spinalcord nerve center and the lower limb's blood flow as related to the change of the H reflex latency during the functional status of Qigong and which It can improve the functional status of nerve/muscle system in the lower limbs.
