This study used scientific terminology and modern knowledge in biology, psychology and exercise physiology to explain the traditional Qigong. To help people understand and practice Qigong , this study reviewed and examined the whole principle and system of this approach to health and longevity. The research used aspects of phenomenology and heuristic methods as well as using interviews and observations. In addition, the study developed the 'Ten-Commandments and Five-Channel' theory of Qigong . Ten-Commandments include deep breathing, brain power promotion, metabolism promotion, low intensity, coordinating seven systems, mobilizing big muscles and building-up lean muscles, enhancing the immune system, increasing the fat-burning efficiency and body-mind-soul coordination. The value of the exercise is achieved through five channels simultaneously: visualization, meditation, relaxation, deep breathing and target circulation (HR+). From a variety of research perspectives, this study demonstrates five health benefits of Qigong, including: promoting the general health, relieving many chronic diseases, eliminating almost all the aches and pains, maintaining a desired body weight and creating an ideal body-mind or psycho-physiological coordination.
