Shomen-uchi in KI Aikido is a technique to protect oneself by blocking the attacker’s blow off with a hand through sensing his Ki just before the blow and guiding it. It has been called Ki, which has been studied physiologically to elucidate what Ki really is. This study shows that the voltage signal in the frontal lob of brain appears very strong in electroencephalography, indicating a state of his concentration, followed by further enhanced voltage along with extension of the active field in that frontal lob when sensing something. Other physiological data such as GSR and R point voltage show similar changes, in which they appeared in three second before the blow nevertheless an actual blow has not been conducted.
