It was shown that the emitted qi had different effects on the two kinds of cells from the same origin. The emitted qi promoted the growth of normal human lymphocytes (C sub pm was 6032.4+-4937.0 in experiment group and 2970.4+-3722.7 in control group; P<0.05); but inhibited the growth of K sub 562 cells (cpm was 9340.8+-3724.4 in experiment group and 10760.2+-3673.5; P<0.01). It was suggested that the emitted qi may be an objective substance possessing energy and has different effects on the different cells. The emitted qi may promote normal function of human immune cells while killing the tumor cells suggesting that qigong is a feasible means to the treatment of carcinoma. The mechanism of the effect of qigong induced emitted qi has been discussed.
