Randomised controlled trial of yoga and bio-feedback in management of hypertension Author: Patel C//North WR Conference/Journal: Lancet Date published: 1975 Other: Volume ID: 2 , Issue ID: 7925 , Pages: 93-5 , Word Count: 71 Thirty-four patients with hypertension were randomly assigned either to a six-week training period of yoga relaxation methods with biofeedback or to a placebo therapy of general relaxation. There was a highly significant difference in reduction in blood pressure in the yoga group (168/100 to 141/84) as compared with the control group (169/101 to 160/96). The control group was then trained in yoga relaxation and their blood pressure then fell to that of the yoga group.
