Preliminary observation of the effects of qigong waiqi on EEG waves and rhythm Author: Zhan Guilin 1//Han Dan 1//Xia Shuangquan 2//Liu Yongfeng 2//Shong Xinhong 2 Affiliation: Dept of Physiology, Hubei Medical College, China [1] //Dept of Qigong Research, Wuhan Physical Educational College, China [2] Conference/Journal: 2nd Int Conf on Qigong Date published: 1989 Other: Pages: 68 , Word Count: 125 46 teacher of physical culture in college, 40% of them are associate professor, between the ages of 23 and 60 were trained in ' Zhong hua Qigong Xue' 14 days. According to exercising better or well two groups were divided and EEG of trainees were made before or after training of qigong. The result showed that: 1. The maximum voltage of EEG waves were markedly decreased after qigong training. Decreasing mean of maximum voltage after training was -18.13±6.65 (uv) (X±SX) P<0.05 n=16 and alpha percentage in EEG became down .2. The maximum voltage of waves and alpha percentage of EEG were higher better group of trainer than in well group. The second point suggested that synchronization of cerebral cortex is more significant in exercising better group than in well group.
