There is a fairly wide propagation of Qigong in Germany in the area of general health care and providence. The application of Qigong in the domain of clinical medicine and psychotherapy is gaining its significance gradually. On this background this report presents experience of the practical use of clinical psychology and psychotherapy, which was made by Qigong. The considered system of Qigong Yangsheng in this paper was developed by Prof. Jiao Guorui, in Germany it is spread by the Medical Association of Qigong Yangsheng. The importance of Qigong related to the objective and substance of psychotherapy will be justified in detail by the comprehensive operation of this system on the body and mind. The significance of Qigong and its psychotherapeutic relevance will be presented. Descriptive reports of the therapeutic practice show the positive effects of Qigong-exercises on the recovery. The subject of the descriptive reports relate mainly to the following clinical picture: neurosis, depression, anxiety, neurosis, psychosomatic disorder, psychosis. Pictures and drawings which were produced by patients themselves clearly show the positive effect and variation due to the application of Qigong-exercises. This is presented by colored slides. Conclusively this report highlights the following problems: In the case of correct application of Qigong-exercises they will have healing, preventive and restorative effects; they represent an enrichment for the psychotherapeutic field of application. A wrong practice of exercises may lead to bad effects. For this reason specially sick people require competent guidance and assistance. Although Qigong is a very old and experienced Chinese practice, but on the other hand its application in the Western world is relatively new, there is a further need of qualified training facilities as well as an animated exchange of information and experience of Chinese experts and institutes for serious application, and propagation of Qigong. The Medical Association of Qigong-Yangsheng (Medizinische Gesellschaft fur Qigong-Yangsheng e. V. ) in Germany makes a strong effort for the realization of the above.
