The results were as follows: Clinical data: 97 patients, including 36 cases of injury to ligament of fibula, 15 cases of contusion of tibiotalar part joint, 28 cases of semiluxation of calcanenocuboid articulation, 5 cases of injury to tibiofibular ligament combined with dislocation of tibiofibular articulation and 3 cases of semiluxation of tibiotalar part articulation were randomly divided into two groups: (1) The group treated by qigong: In 50 cases there were 36 males and 14 females with an average age of 30.24 years old (16-43), the average course of disease was 4.46 days (1-15 days). (2) The control group treated by herbs: In 47 cases there were 28 males and 19 females with the average age of 30.08(17-41) and average course of disease of 4.26 days (1-14) days. Treating methods: 1. The group treated by qigong: Firstly, reduction was performed by bone setting. Then the strength through concentration to the thumb of the left hand was directed and the local point pressed, while we directed our strength to the five fingers of the right hand, and preformed the rotating sweeping manipulation for 20 minutes a day for 7 days. 2. The control group: Bone setting was also performed to reduce the dislocated articulation. Then Chinese herbs were applied to the affected part, once a day for 7 days. (prescription: Chinese angelica root, red peony root, phellodendron bark, ground beetle leech, safflower and aucklandia root etc. ) 3. Criterion of the therapeutic effect: Marked effectiveness: Pain and swelling disappeared, function returned to normal. Effectiveness: Pain and swelling nearly disappeared. Failure: No improvement was found.
